Terve!

Terve is a word that really catches the essence of finnish small talk. As the word means 'healthy' and is commonly used as hello the basic question -how are you- is already answered before the first person even had the chance to open their mouths. So much for the small talk! This makes communication of the finns(especially males) very efficient. Nothing unnecessary is said.
a typical finnish male encounter could go like this:
